Involve Students in Decision-Making
When students are involved with making decisions, an increase in collaboration and ownership of learning takes place. Additionally, students feel valued and believe their input matters. 3 tips to support decision making include:
- Setting Expectations – At the beginning of the year, build a set of expectations that are both teacher and students created.
- Communicate Clearly – Discuss which decisions can be a collaborative effort and which are non-negotiables.
- Encourage Participation – Be sure all students feel included in the process.
